About Air Ayiti Charter Airlines Company
The airline planned to launch scheduled operations in summer 2014 with MD-80s but it couldn’t. At present, it seems to operate as a charter operator and has plans to become the national airline of Haiti. However, under the conditioned lease agreement with the US airline “Eastern Airlines which is a popular carrier for the Caribbean, Air Ayiti plans to start scheduled operations between Haiti and the United States. First, Haiti is not rated category 1 by the FAA so no Haitian carrier including legit Sunshine Airways can operate to the U.S. Only Eastern Airlines has been granted extensive scheduled international passenger traffic rights by the US Department for Transportation (DOT). So even if Air Ayiti is legit, the flights will be operated by Eastern Air Lines which is Air Ayiti’s “go-around” way of entering into the US sector.

Our Take: There is quite a chaos in Haiti amidst violent protest and civil strife right now, many companies have pulled out citing mercantile reasons. Haiti is temporarily removed from the world’s tourist map amidst all this and several prominent airlines like Air Canada, JetBlue, Delta, Air Transat have reduced or canceled flights totally.
There will be an influx of people sending their kids to Haiti for the summer vacations in 2020, so the arrival of this ultra-low-cost airline and this promotion which arrives just in time before the rush is dubious. Travelers are advised to proceed with caution while booking flights on this airline.
